Judging from the dialogue, I'm guessing in the future, Walter is a suspect in a crime (or was truly responsible for it). This would explain why he's in chains and why his stuff in the lab was confiscated as evidence. Maybe he was blamed for causing a big disaster on the date posted in the earlier spoiler post? Astrid's a Fringe agent, Walter's in jail, and Olivia and Peter are still Fringe agents(judging from the "Olivia's on it" comment and Peter's use of "we" when he mentioned Fringe needing Astrid as a field agent).

It seems as though Walter's going to work on a case or something, since they're at the lab again and Peter mentions Olivia arranging to have Walter's stuff brought back for him to use ("Your equipment will be here shortly"). Maybe Walter's still in jail but they need him to solve a case for them?

The strange thing is that Peter doesn't seem to be angry with Walter or even show any resentment or sadness. He's obviously still amused by Walter's quirky naivity; he chuckles at Walter's assumption Astrid would still help him. He seems a little resigned (note the sigh) and serious, maybe even wary when Walter goes to look at his old office.

Another note: this seems as though Peter is now also a Fringe agent. Technically, Peter and Walter are now consultants for the Fringe division, not agents. Perhaps Peter and Olivia are agents and partners in the future.

WTF!?!?!?!

Oh no Walter!! what did u do to land yourself in handcuffs??... ALthough Peter and Walter seem 'content', I can't help but feel that there's something really wrong with this picture. Would Peter really have Walter in cuffs?? We saw how stressed and guilty Peter felt when Walter was locked up again in S2, surely this can't be something that Peter is ok with:/

I think Walter is in chains as a result of taking Peter all those years ago and he's just being released. I think the Olivia Peter may be referring to is Altlivia . . . they know how to write a story!

As you can see Peter talked to Walternate.. and said that he's universe had been destroyed.. i think that Walternate's universe had been destroyed but somehow taken over the original Walter's universe..

All I can say is that I'm soo freaking confused...! ;)

It looks as though Walter is a little more demented than usual, maybe a stroke?

Am I the only person who noticed that Walter looks as though he's suffered a stroke of some sort? The entire right half of his face isn't moving... O__O

I think the machine is showing Peter what the future will look like if he destroys the red universe. He'll ultimately decide he can't live with that and try to find another way.

i think it will be a surprising episode all what you say can be right or wrong

To an earlier comment - Olivia was never reffered to as "Altlivia"? I'm not sure where you got that, but she is reffered to as either Olivia or "Folivia" meaning of course fauxlivia.

omfg i'm so amazed by all that has happened... I think Peter is with now blond Bolivia and that our Olivia died or something. Or maybe I had just smoked some brown betty and forgot about!

Peter and Olivia are married, I think. He had a wedding band on at the end of this last episode. We now know it's a time machine he stepped into. It also appears that the universes have merged because Walternate was telling either Walter or Peter that they destroyed his world. I have no idea where this is going to lead for next season. Perhaps it will all take place in the merged universe? Can't wait for The End!

Yes there is a season four. Fox announced a Fringe renewal about a month or so ago. Thank goodness for that, Could you imagine if they had ended the series like this!? I would have gone insane!! I am so excited for the finale and for season 4. Fringe just keeps getting better and better. One thing on the summer agenda is to definitely buy all the seasons and rewatch it all!! :D
