The Fringe Podcast Episode 502-Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11
By Darrell Email Post 9/30/2012 08:51:00 PM Categories: Podcast, The Fringe Podcast
In episode 502 of The Fringe Podcast we break down the Fringe season 5 premiere entitled, "Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11." We talk about the new feel of the episode and how this season will likely be different from previous seasons. We share our thoughts on the cast of characters for season 5 and how they are still very similar to the characters we've seen in previous seasons. Darrell offers up two new theories on the Observers and William Bell. Clint shares some real world science that relates to what we saw in this episode. And, of course, we discuss some of the powerful scenes from this episode and the amazing work the cast and crew did.
Send in your feedback and theories to 304-837-2278 or feedback@thefringepodcast.com.

Fringe Review: Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11

“Resistance is futile.”
While we’re all sad that Fringe has only 13 episodes left, there’s something to be said for the showrunners knowing when a story is going to end, in time to craft a beautiful ending. In the past, one of Fringe’s strengths is that it forces us to ask questions. But its greatest strength has been that it reminds us that questions can change, as in last season’s switch from “will they or won’t they” to “who are they, and is identity a stable category?”
Fringe Episode 5.01 Review - Dandelion Wine

Transilience Thought Unifier Model -11
aka
Dandelion Wine
(The Simple Joys of Yesterday)
“Somewhere, a book said once, all the talk ever talked, all the songs ever sung, still lived, had vibrated way out in space and if you could travel to Far Centauri you could hear George Washington talking in his sleep or Caesar surprised at the knife in his back. So much for sounds. What about light then? All things, once seen, they didn't just die, that couldn't be.
It must be then that somewhere, searching the world, perhaps in the dropping multiboxed honeycombs where light was an amber sap stored by pollen-fired bees, or in the thirty thousand lenses of the noon dragonfly's gemmed skull you might find all the colors and sights of the world in any one year. Or pour one single drop of this dandelion wine beneath a microscope and perhaps the entire world of July Fourth would firework out in Vesuvius showers. This he would have to believe.”
Ray Bradbury

FRINGE Analysis/Review 5.01 -- Hope Can Be Found in the Smallest of Cracks.

I am elated to be able to write some thoughts about this episode. This show has 12 more to tell an epic saga, and so far, so very good.
A Beautiful Dream Inside of a Horrible Nightmare
As the Fringe family of Olivia, Peter and their young
daughter, Etta, enjoyed what Peter might call, “the perfect day,” I could not
help but to smile. These precious moments of a happy family are few and far
between on the show. However, there was also a conflicting dread, as I
witnessed father and mother enjoying their precious toddler’s joy in her
discovery of the effect that blowing air against a mature dandelion has on the
flower. Fringe fans everywhere probably felt the same, as we know when
Peter and Olivia are happy, something's gotta go wrong. And the wrong that came
has got to be the most gut-wrenching imaginable.

Fringe Glyph Code 501: "Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11"
By Dennis Email Post 9/28/2012 10:10:00 PM Categories: Easter Eggs, Fringe, Glyphs, Season 5
The Glyphs code in the Fringe episode "Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11" spelled out DOUBT, like the doubt the Fringe team is feeling that a plan to defeat the Observers is going to work.

Fringe Episode 501: "Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11" SEASON PREMIERE!
By Dennis Email Post 9/28/2012 08:31:00 PM Categories: Episodes, Fringe
Happy Fringe Season Five Premiere Friday!
THE FRINGE TEAM EMBARKS ON ITS MOST IMPORTANT MISSIONDuring tonight's season premiere episode, help promote Fringe by tweeting about the episode using this week's hashmark #TheyAreHere (Wait until 8pm, and don't use any other #hashtags! - plus please add the word Fringe (without a #) into your tweet.)
The fifth and final season picks up from the ominous events of last season’s “Letters of Transit” episode, in which the year is 2036 and the overpowering Observers rule. The Fringe team – preserved in amber for 20 years - is now a rebel resistance team fighting for freedom. Peter, reunited with his now adult daughter, Etta, sets out to find out what happened to his wife and Etta’s mom – Olivia – as they start their mission to save the world from the Observers.
While you are on Twitter, keep your eye out for live tweeting by:
- Fringe editor Ari Margolis (@jonxproductions)
- Fringe executive producer Joel Wyman (@jwfringe)
- Plus other fringe cast and crew???
Also, don't forget to check OUT our LIVE Fringe Chat Room, and check-IN to Fringe at GetGlue to get this week's Fringe sticker.
After the episode airs, continue the discussion here in the comments, and get more Fringe information at the:

Social Media Campaign for 5x01 "Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11"
By birdandbear Email Post 9/28/2012 04:40:00 PM Categories: GetGlue, Support Fringe, Twitter
The team over at Fringenuity are preparing to launch back into the weekly social media campaigns that helped give the fandom a voice during the last season. The focus is a little different now that we no longer need to worry about the future of the show, but Fringe's fandom has become a sort of story in itself, and we intend to be there every step of the way down this last stretch of road. Fringe, and its fans, deserve nothing less.
FOX Broadcasting will continue its support of the community's efforts by displaying the fan chosen hashtag in place of the old #Fringe tag during each episode. For the September 28 premiere, the hashtag was really a no brainer (see what I did there?); the logical answer to September's ominous warning. After a summer full of warnings that "They are coming," the hashtag for the season five opener is
1) Don’t use #TheyAreHere before the designated time: 1 HOUR before Fringe airs.
The event will take place 1 hour before Fringe airs – 8pm EST. As these events become larger, we are gaining more new Fringies in the effort. Gently remind others that use the tag before the event to wait until the right time, and tell them that using the tag too much beforehand will lessen trending impact. This happened when Fringe fans tried to trend #WhereIsPeterBishop for the season four premiere. The # had been used all summer long, was not anything new on the Twitter radar, so it did not trend. Trending happens with terms that are relatively new, and many people tweet about them at the same time. Terms break out onto the scene, but trending becomes more difficult the more they are used. Be nice! We want everyone to feel welcome.
2) One # term per Tweet. Use only #TheyAreHere (What Are Hashtags?)
3) Lots of people tweeting matters more than the number of tweets.
Tell every Fringie about the event. There is strength in numbers – remember that the more unique tweeters we have, the more likely we are to trend, and for a longer duration of time. Send your tweets out fast – but remember to pace yourself. You want to avoid “Twitter Jail.” We know we can hit worldwide trending now, so sustained tweeting matters. Trending can be a distraction, but we need you to keep those wonderful tweets coming. You may have also noticed that the # will drop off the charts after a while, only to trend again when Fringe airs. This is due to other viewers joining in by tweeting the hashtag on the bottom of the screen.
4) Those with lots of followers help out a lot!
Alternate accounts with few followers do not have as much “influence” towards trending. But tweets from accounts like @JWFringe, @FringeOnFox, @VancityJax and @johnnob58004412 make a big impact. Let’s try to build our Fringe fan follower networks. One easy way is to follow people on fan Twitter lists. Here is Aimee's Cortexifan list. Follow some Fringies! Another way is to follow some folks on Twitter “Follow Fridays.” You may have seen tweets that are tagged #FF – followed by a bunch of twitter names. This is because they are recommended people to follow.
5) We want to pique the interest of non-Fringe fans.
This is the key to our trending duration success. It gives a chance to get our message about Fringe out to another audience. Try to construct a list of thoughtful and informative tweets before the event. These can be copied and pasted for easy tweets. Use some witty Fringe sayings – link some of the official promo videos – speculate about the plans of William Bell, or on the fate of Olivia. Cool tweets are more likely to earn re-tweets, and this immensely helps trending.
6) We can discuss aspects of the show in our tweets.
TRY to include the word FRINGE (with no #) in your tweet if possible. Talk about the characters and the actors. Maybe use the episode title. We’ve recently been able to trend Fringe, Broyles, John Noble, and William Bell! Something tells me that Etta and Observers will trend as well…
7) Private accounts must have their locked status removed, as the tweets from locked accounts do not count toward the trend tally.
8) Retweets are the easiest way to help out the trending effort.
Just search for the hashtag, and retweet the ones that are interesting to you. If you know how to use a Twitter application suite like TweetDeck or HootSuite, this is made even easier.
9) Remember to check in at GetGlue for cool stickers and so that Fringe will trend there as well.
With this difference in purpose, we are setting our expectations for lower participation in these events than before the renewal announcement. Without the execution fear hanging over us, there won’t be such a flurry of anxious determination. On the other hand, we’d like to be proven wrong and see more people participate than ever and Twitter trending all over the world once again. Many people have watched Fringe over the summer due to streaming access and news of a definite end date. Fans have been gained. Let’s try for the next few weeks to engage people online whether on Twitter, FB, Tumblr, GetGlue, etc, and talk with them and remind the about Fringe’s return.

Merchandise Monday - Fringe Glyphs
By Zort70 Email Post 9/17/2012 01:54:00 PM
So for this edition of Merchandise Monday I'm looking at the Fringe Glyphs.
Since they first appeared there was a fascination with them and work soon began on decoding their meaning.
Of course once they had been decoded they become even more of an enigma as they seemingly give clues to either the overall Fringe story or simply a hint at the next episode.
The beauty is of course that you don't need to understand the code to watch, they are just part of the show and I couldn't imagine an episode without them.
I have always wanted to create my own simple versions of the glyphs as the on screen versions are beautiful, but don't translate well to my preferred limited color way of working.

The Fringe Podcast Summer Rewatch Episode 17
By Darrell Email Post 9/16/2012 06:14:00 PM Categories: Podcast, The Fringe Podcast
In this final episode of The Fringe Podcast summer rewatch series we discuss the Fringe season 4 episodes, “Everything In Its Right Place,” “The Consultant,” “Letters of Transit,” “Worlds Apart,” “Brave New World Part 1,” and “Brave New World Part 2.” We discuss several of the story lines and details that we enjoyed about these episodes and we also give out several ideas on what we hope to see in in the final season of Fringe. We discuss William Bell, the death of David Robert Jones, Olivia’s cortexiphan abilities, and Astrid’s FBI agent skills. We also talk about the observer invasion, Etta’s skills, the role of other cortexiphan kids in the future and Bonita throws out a new theory on the whereabouts of Oliva.
We had a lot of great discussion in this episode and we’re very grateful for Heather and Bonita for their participation. Send in your feedback and theories to 304-837-2278 or feedback@thefringepodcast.com.

If you've been following Fringe Television anytime in the last 2 years, you will have noticed the volume of incredible promos, and other video features created by Ari that we have showcased here-almost too numerous to name.
Ari is not only a talented video artist in the television industry, but also a true and sharing Fringe fan who has been extremely interactive with other fans in the Fringedom via Twitter.
And just 2 days ago he, personally, introduced John Noble to Twitter(his address is @johnnob58004412-go say hello to John!), which is typical of Ari to do.
Ari, we all just want to take a moment to thank you for all you do for Fringe fans worldwide, and especially thanks for all your support in our fan endeavors.
So all of us here at Fringe Television wish Ari Margolis a very Happy Birthday with this video gift, created by talented Fringe vidder, Arturo Garcia. (Thank you for making this, Arturo.)

From the back cover of Smart Pop's Fringe Science book:
'Fringe has always been more than the sum of its parts-but its parts, too, are worth a closer look. The Fringe Podcast Summer Rewatch Episode 16
By Darrell Email Post 9/10/2012 12:13:00 AM Categories: Podcast, The Fringe Podcast
In this episode of The Fringe Podcast, we are joined by Allan, Michelle, and Lou as we rewatch and discuss the Fringe season 4 episodes, "Making Angels," "Welcome To Westfield," "A Better Human Being," "The End of All Things," "A Short Story About Love," and "Nothing As It Seems." We dig in to many of the themes and character developments covered in this group of episodes. We talk about the journey that Olivia and Peter go through and whether or not the writers took too long to resolve it, we talk about the new revelations we received about the origins of the observers and how that information gives us insight into season 5, and we talk about the series of Fringe as a love story. Some of us like the idea of Fringe as a love story, and some of us hope that there is more to it than that. We had a lot of great discussion in this episode and we're very grateful for Michelle, Allan, and Lou for their participation. Send in your feedback and theories to 304-837-2278 or feedback@thefringepodcast.com.

Fringe Series Finale to Air in February
Sep 7, 2012 08:33 AM ET
It really is the beginning of the end.
Three weeks shy of the fifth and final season premiere of Fringe, executive producer J.H. Wyman revealed on Twitter Thursday that the series finale will air Friday, Feb. 1. Fox declined to confirm the date of the finale, which will be written and directed by Wyman.
In July, Fox boss Kevin Reilly told reporters the series' swan song would air in January. "There's probably going to be a few interruptions, but not many," he said at the network's Television Critics Association fall TV previews. "Just the holidays. [The series] will end in January."

"Beyond The Fringe" Comic Collection Out Now
By Count Screwloose Email Post 9/06/2012 01:31:00 PM Categories: Beyond The Fringe, Comic, Fringe
Hot on the heels of FRINGE Season 4 being released on DVD and Blu-Ray Tuesday, the previously online-only series Beyond The Fringe has been collected into a trade paperback that appeared yesterday in comic stores.
The collection makes the entire recent series, including Joshua Jackson's acclaimed Peter And The Machine, finally available in print, although Jackson's story did appear earlier this year as a one-shot issue.
Speaking of that tale, specially marked copies of the Season 4 set are available at Best Buy that come with a mini-comic of the Jackson story. A yellow sticker on the front of the DVD or Blu-Ray will alert you to it being included inside.

In this episode of The Fringe Podcast we continue our summer rewatch series with the Fringe season 4 episodes, "And Those We've Left Behind," "Wallflower," "Back to Where You've Never Been," Enemy of My Enemy," and "Forced Perspective." Joined by Michelle and John, we discuss the Observers and how this new timeline might effect their overall plan, the differenct character growth and nuances of Peter, Walternate, Walter, Elizabeth and Nina, and we talk about some of the clues that we originally missed that reaveal Peter is where is should have been all along.
We also read a very insightful email we received from Joey that discusses the Observers plan, how their plan effects each universe, and how September has been working to avoid the Observer invasion from season 1.
