Happy Wednesday, fellow Fringe Fans. It's time for another non-spoiler edition of Fringe Discuss.
Today's discussion question: In Walternate's world, the anagram on the chalkboard in "Over There:Part 2" read "Don't Trust Sam Weiss." So, the red 'verse is not to trust Sam Weiss. And what about the blue 'verse?
Should the blue universe trust Sam Weiss? Is there even a red 'verse version of Sam? And who wrote that message?
What do you think?I would love to hear everyone's take on this. Please post your answers and comments below, and PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY POSTED SPOILERS WILL BE DELETED. We've got an entire section called "Spoilers" for you to post the spoiler-y stuff.

I personally trust Sam Weiss. Well, let's just say that I trust him as much a I trust Nina Sharp. (We still don't know all of her secret work that goes on in Massive Dynamic.)I feel like Weiss could be a good asset to have; he did tell Nina how the fate of the worlds would be decided(Olivia v.s. Fauxlivia-Peter's choice would decide). Not to mention that he did help Nina and Olivia recover. I can see him as being some sort of illigitimate son of William Bell or something. Hey in Fringe anything is possible!
Can't wait for the next episode!
***I LOVE FRINGE***
I'm not sure whether or not I trust him, but I do like his character.
I trust him, but then I trust William Bell, too!
I think the blackboard anagram was written by Sam himself.
I just discovered that in one of the episodes when we first meet Sam, he's wearing a Violet Sedan Chair T-shirt! How can anyone who loves VST be evil?
...oh, wait. I think Walternate likes them...
Well, I think it's clear he knows more than he shares. I mean, come on! He's so old he wrote all those books about the first people and then went on to explain how the wave sink device would work to Nina. I don't know, I've got this feeling he's just playing chess with the blue fringe division, putting every character, including the machine, where he wants or needs them to be. The message I get from the writers is that he can't be trusted in either universe, like he's just following his secret vagenda or sth! Suddenly the whole "which Olivia he ends with" makes more sense.
Friday can't come soon enough!
am Wess, I believe that it has his own interests in the war between both universes, have thought that we must not also trust in the Observers, that such that Over Here and Over There are simple it registers in a game of chess for these prominent figures, and serpa that ultimately the real villain will not even be Walternate but Sam Wess or observer.
The message is very clear, not to trust in Sam Wess, I believe that it has his own interests in the war between both universes, have thought that we must not also trust in the Observers, that such that Over Here and Over There are simple it registers in a game of chess for these prominent figures, and serpa that ultimately the real villain will not even be Walternate but Sam Wess or observer.
Tricky question. I don't know.
He has said stuff and omitted stuff from the "heroes". There is not a lot to go on to say if he is good or bad.
I have a pretty good feeling he is not sitting on the fence on which universe to side with.
Would you trust this guy in any universe? He is a 100 year old senior that hangs out at a bowling ally just so he can fondle the 8lb balls.
I'm totally with Pau here. Sam knows way too much to not have his very own agenda in this. Of course we can't tell right now whether he actually is playing everyone but he certainly is in a position where he could. And I don't trust people on default. That's something you gotta earn.
[Also - a little off topic - a curious thing about his name I just noticed:
'Weiss' is a rather common German last name that would translate into 'White' in English (nothing special I know BUT...) but it is also the first and second person singular present tense of the verb 'wissen' (= to know) so his name also means 'Sam knows'.
Well, I just thought it kinda was a funny coincidence (or none at all?) given his role in all this and the fact that the German language has been featured quite frequently on the show.]
correction for the comment above: I meant first and third person singular not first and second.
I like Sam. So far he has done nothing to cause not trusting him. The things he says are a different matter. Truth or Lie? Truth or Dare? Time will be the tell. He may be the incarnation of Lucifer and wins no matter which universe survives.
Another thought just entered my fog laden mind. What if the way to save both universes is to do nothing. Perhaps the collision isn't a collision but a passing through one another that heals both universes? Just a thought.

I am kind of in the half way. I dont know if we should or not trust him. My guess that popped into my head is that Sam is one of the first people and can travel from and to universes. I think when maybe if he was "Over there" he did something to get himself not trusted. But if he was "Over there" what did he do?
Between the anagram on the chalk board and having it be backwards in that commercial I feel we shouldn't trust him and thats what the writers are trying to get at. BUT I love him so much, I really want to trust him. I'm sure he has his own agenda for helping Nina and Olivia. However I think he is a greater part in the universes like the observers. It's slowly seeming like the observers are here to keep the worlds in balance or check in on the balances. Well Peter being taken from that world is obviously a big unbalance. I just hope that Sam Weiss is a part of the universe that is suppose to maybe help the worlds balance themselves out. Maybe he knows that there is only one person from each world who can save both worlds and Walternate and Olivia are those people, well Walternate wouldn't listen to Sam so he has to lead Olivia to the answer. Just brain storming, trying to come up with ANY reason to trust Sam Weiss!
I love his character, but I don't trust him.
I want to trust Sam, and I do somewhat, but he's definitely hiding some things. I'm guessing he's either one of the first people or he's para-Bell (like parallel, get it? I just made that up :P). I'm leaning towards Bell.
I think the poster who said "I trust him as much as I trust Nina Sharp" is spot on. I don't think he's evil, but he's definitely not showing up his hand.
he most likely works for walternate which would be a good twist
Level of trust varies by context. I don't know his underlying intentions, nor his place with the first people, so for all I know, he's helping people that will serve him in some way, or will help him shape the course of history.
I'd like to see more interactions between him and the observers.
