Social Media Campaign for 5x01 "Transilience Thought Unifier Model-11"

      Email Post       9/28/2012 04:40:00 PM

The team over at Fringenuity are preparing to launch back into the weekly social media campaigns that helped give the fandom a voice during the last season. The focus is a little different now that we no longer need to worry about the future of the show, but Fringe's fandom has become a sort of story in itself, and we intend to be there every step of the way down this last stretch of road. Fringe, and its fans, deserve nothing less.

FOX Broadcasting will continue its support of the community's efforts by displaying the fan chosen hashtag in place of the old #Fringe tag during each episode. For the September 28 premiere, the hashtag was really a no brainer (see what I did there?); the logical answer to September's ominous warning. After a summer full of warnings that "They are coming," the hashtag for the season five opener is

#TheyAreHere

TWITTER EVENT PROTOCOL

Be sure to make your first tweet of the night a thank you to @FoxBroadcasting and @WarnerBrosEnt for making season five possible.

1) Don’t use #TheyAreHere before the designated time: 1 HOUR before Fringe airs.
The event will take place 1 hour before Fringe airs – 8pm EST. As these events become larger, we are gaining more new Fringies in the effort. Gently remind others that use the tag before the event to wait until the right time, and tell them that using the tag too much beforehand will lessen trending impact. This happened when Fringe fans tried to trend #WhereIsPeterBishop for the season four premiere. The # had been used all summer long, was not anything new on the Twitter radar, so it did not trend. Trending happens with terms that are relatively new, and many people tweet about them at the same time. Terms break out onto the scene, but trending becomes more difficult the more they are used. Be nice! We want everyone to feel welcome.

2) One # term per Tweet. Use only #TheyAreHere (What Are Hashtags?)

3) Lots of people tweeting matters more than the number of tweets.
Tell every Fringie about the event. There is strength in numbers – remember that the more unique tweeters we have, the more likely we are to trend, and for a longer duration of time. Send your tweets out fast – but remember to pace yourself. You want to avoid “Twitter Jail.” We know we can hit worldwide trending now, so sustained tweeting matters. Trending can be a distraction, but we need you to keep those wonderful tweets coming. You may have also noticed that the # will drop off the charts after a while, only to trend again when Fringe airs. This is due to other viewers joining in by tweeting the hashtag on the bottom of the screen.

4) Those with lots of followers help out a lot!
Alternate accounts with few followers do not have as much “influence” towards trending. But tweets from accounts like @JWFringe, @FringeOnFox, @VancityJax and @johnnob58004412 make a big impact. Let’s try to build our Fringe fan follower networks. One easy way is to follow people on fan Twitter lists. Here is Aimee's Cortexifan list. Follow some Fringies! Another way is to follow some folks on Twitter “Follow Fridays.” You may have seen tweets that are tagged #FF – followed by a bunch of twitter names. This is because they are recommended people to follow.

5) We want to pique the interest of non-Fringe fans.
This is the key to our trending duration success. It gives a chance to get our message about Fringe out to another audience. Try to construct a list of thoughtful and informative tweets before the event. These can be copied and pasted for easy tweets. Use some witty Fringe sayings – link some of the official promo videos – speculate about the plans of William Bell, or on the fate of Olivia. Cool tweets are more likely to earn re-tweets, and this immensely helps trending.

6) We can discuss aspects of the show in our tweets.
TRY to include the word FRINGE (with no #) in your tweet if possible. Talk about the characters and the actors.  Maybe use the episode title. We’ve recently been able to trend Fringe, Broyles, John Noble, and William Bell! Something tells me that Etta and Observers will trend as well…

7) Private accounts must have their locked status removed, as the tweets from locked accounts do not count toward the trend tally.

8) Retweets are the easiest way to help out the trending effort.
Just search for the hashtag, and retweet the ones that are interesting to you. If you know how to use a Twitter application suite like TweetDeck or HootSuite, this is made even easier.

9) Remember to check in at GetGlue for cool stickers and so that Fringe will trend there as well.
With this difference in purpose, we are setting our expectations for lower participation in these events than before the renewal announcement. Without the execution fear hanging over us, there won’t be such a flurry of anxious determination. On the other hand, we’d like to be proven wrong and see more people participate than ever and Twitter trending all over the world once again. Many people have watched Fringe over the summer due to streaming access and news of a definite end date. Fans have been gained. Let’s try for the next few weeks to engage people online whether on Twitter, FB, Tumblr, GetGlue, etc, and talk with them and remind the about Fringe’s return.

Fringe Twitter and GetGlue Campaign For 422 "Brave New World:Part II"-

      Email Post       5/11/2012 12:03:00 AM

Fringe Twitter and GetGlue Campaign For 422 "Brave New World:Part II"-Build A Better World
The last Fringe Twitter and GetGlue campaign, sponsored by Fringenuity on May 3rd was quite successful.
Thanks to Fox Broadcasting's help, the entire episode aired with the Fringenuity hash tag "DarkestBeforeDawn" on the screen instead of #Fringe, for the seventh time in the show's history!

The group, Fringenuity, hosts the Friday night Twitter/GetGlue campaigns.
Fringe Television is proud to support Fringenuity's efforts to promote "Fringe" in as many social media venues as possible, and asks for your help.

Tomorrow night we want to continue our social media domination, close out Season 4 with a bang, and thank FOX, the show's sponsors, the executive producers, cast, and crew by trying to get the hash tag #BuildABetterWorld to trend on Twitter starting at 8PM Eastern.
That's 1 hour before the new episode airs, and then again at 8PM Pacific time.

Why keep tweeting? Because we know that ratings isn't just about Nielsen boxes anymore. TV networks and their contractors pay attention to which TV shows are 'socially-active' and our show Fringe is very socially-active on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and other venues.

Why continue this effort? Last Friday's event catapulted Fringe in multiple social media platforms, and we would like to keep Fringe visible in these platforms in the weeks and months ahead, even over the summer hiatus.

Please consider joining in tomorrow night at 8PM Eastern and 8PM Pacific to support your favorite show by signing into Twitter and using the #BuildABetterWorld hash tag to post.

If you are not familiar with Twitter, you can create an new account rather painlessly at http://www.twitter.com/.

For more information on this week's special Fringe Twitter event, including the special icons, banners, and brandy new icon matrix visit the Fringenuity website here.

An important reminder: Please do not tweet with the #BuildABetterWorld hash tag until 8PM Eastern, to increase the likelihood of trending! And volume helps, so tweet slowly, and tweet often after the start time Friday night! Also, retweet tweets that you like, that have the #BuildABetterWorld hash tag.

Let's dominate Twitter Friday night, and make our hash tag and our show trend worldwide! Again!

********EXTRA!EXTRA! Need another reason to tweet tonight?********
Executive producer, Joel Wyman, dropped by Twitter this afternoon, and confirmed for me that he will be LIVE tweeting during the airings tomorrow night! And, Fringe media master, Ari Margolis, will also be LIVE tweeting tomorrow night during both airings!

***ButWait! There's more!***
Another social network platform that needs our attention on Friday nights is GetGlue.com.
If you are not familiar with getglue.com it is a very clever advertising site married to social networking.
GetGlue merges fans with their interests, and their interests' sponsors.

If you have a GetGlue account you can "check-in" to Fringe. The shows that get the most check-ins are highly visible to the networks and the show's sponsors.

It is recommended you start checking into GetGlue closer to the start time of Fringe to increase the chance of trending there. For the last several Friday nights we made Fringe the #1 checked in show on GetGlue!

Fringenuity is asking that tomorrow night, your first check-in to one of Fringe's sponsors on GetGlue, ie. Nissan Leaf, and thank them for supporting Fringe. Think it doesn't make a difference? Guess again.
For the last few weeks, due to our GetClue check-ins, the Nissan Leaf was one of the most checked-in sponsors on the site.

Let’s make it a combined effort to not only check-in to the show, but to also check-in to the show’s advertisers and comment, “Thank You for your support of Fringe! @FringeOnFox”

If you don’t have a GetGlue account, make one at http://www.getglue.com/.
You can post your check-ins to Twitter and/or Facebook.
The more activity, the better, as this may also get other Fringies involved in the GetGlue check-ins.
GetGlue also has convenient mobile phone aps for iphone, Android, and Blackberry.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Please, enjoy the Season 4 finale tomorrow night, and support high visibility of your show by tweeting on Twitter with the special hash tag, and checking into Fringe at GetGlue and thanking at least 1 of Friday night's many sponsors. Your efforts will not go unrewarded, and it is quite likely these actions helped us acquire a Season 5!

Fringedom, the time is now to thank FOX, the show's sponsors, and everyone affiliated with Fringe by watching "Brave New World:Part II" LIVE tomorrow night, and joining in this Twitter/GetGlue event!

Vote For Fringe In The E! "Save One Show" Poll - Final Round!

      Email Post       4/23/2012 05:37:00 PM

E! Online is running their annual Save One Show event, which gives you a unique chance to help rescue your favorite endangered series from the evil clutches of cancellation. Here is an explanation of how it works:
After we get our winner, we announce the show to save on E! News and on E! Online, and then we take your message directly to that network. The powers-that-be will get your message loud and clear. And in the past decade, we've successfully help rescues shows like Felicity, Angel and One Tree Hill. When we get down to the finales, we even get the stars of the shows involved, and the outcome is always amazing.
UPDATE: Fringe has made it to the final round of voting, but it will need a lot more votes to overcome the current front runner "Body Of Proof". There is still plenty of time to catch up, since polls don't close until Sunday, April 29 at 5 p.m. PT. So tell your friends, and vote often!

An important reminder: Please do not tweet with the #FaceYourself hash tag until 8PM Eastern, to increase the likelihood of trending! And volume helps, so tweet slowly, and tweet often after the start time Friday night! Also, retweet tweets that you like, that have the #FaceYourself hash tag.

Let's dominate Twitter Friday night, and make our hash tag and our show trend worldwide! Again!

For the last 2 Friday nights we made Fringe the #1 checked in show on GetGlue!
You can also look up Fringe's sponsors on GetGlue, check-in to them, ie. Nissan Leaf, Sprint, etc., and thank them for supporting Fringe.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Please, enjoy the new episode tomorrow night, and support high visibility of your show by tweeting on Twitter with the special hash tag, and checking into Fringe at GetGlue and thanking at least 1 of Friday night's many sponsors. Your efforts will not go unrewarded, and may help increase our chances of getting a Season 5.

Fringedom, the time is now! If you want your Season 5, Watch "Everything In Its Right Place" LIVE tomorrow night, and join in this Twitter/GetGlue event!

Make sure FOX Broadcasting and the Fringe sponsors know that you want another season of FRINGE!!

Fox fuels Twitter trail to 'Fringe'

Fox fuels Twitter trail to 'Fringe'
Net to continue on-air stunt aimed at social media users

By Andrew Wallenstein

Fox is bringing together Twitter and TV in an unusual bid to rally the "Fringe" faithful.

The network has decided to extend for the rest of the season an on-air stunt tried during last Friday's episode that sent the series trending on the popular social-media platform.

Fox planted the mysterious phrase "#whereyoubelong" as the Twitter hashtag that appears in the lower right of the screen throughout the episode instead of the title of the series. Perhaps only diehard "Fringe" fans recognized that the phrase -- an allusion to a plot point -- was the latest attempt to get attention for the series on Twitter by the series' cult following, collectively known as Fringenuity.

Now Fox is going to pick a new Fringenuity-inspired phrase to use as a hashtag each week for the remaining seven episodes. That way "Fringe" fans can drive a clearly identifiable spike in social media traffic beginning precisely one hour before the series airs on the East Coast. The March 23 stunt was good enough to get #whereyoubelong trending both in the U.S. and worldwide, not to mention finishing fourth among TV series-related social messages for the week behind only "American Idol," "Dancing With the Stars" and "The Voice," according to Bluefin Labs.

Fringe Twitter and GetGlue Campaign for 416, "Nothing As It Seems"-#ChangeYourWorld

The last Fringe Twitter and GetGlue campaign, sponsored by Fringenuity on March 23rd was quite successful.
Thanks to Fox Broadcasting's help, for the first time in the show's history the entire episode aired with the Fringenuity hash tag "WhereYouBelong on the screen instead of #Fringe!
There are lots of awesome statistics that emerged from this event, read more here.

Fringe Television is proud to support Fringenuity's efforts to promote "Fringe" in as many social media venues as possible, and asks for your help.
Tomorrow night we want to continue our social media domination, and the Fringedom wants to try to get the hash tag #ChangeYourWorld to trend on Twitter starting at 8PM Eastern.

Please note the start time to tweet is 1 hour LATER than previously, in an effort to increase our chances of trending.

Last Friday's event catapaulted Fringe in multiple social media platforms, and we need to keep Fringe visible in these platforms in the weeks ahead, especially with the ongoing FOX/Warner Brothers negotiaions for a Season 5.

Please consider joining in tomorrow night at 8PM Eastern and 8PM Pacific to support your favorite show by signing into Twitter and using the #ChangeYourWorld hash tag.

If you are not familiar with Twitter, you can create an new account rather painlessly at http://www.twitter.com/.

Exclusive: Fox Helps Out Fringe Fans on Twitter!
 Mar 22, 2012 05:14 PM ET
by Damian Holbrook

Thanks to a group of determined devotees, Fringe's spring return tomorrow night (9/8c, Fox) brings with it a new kind of social-media shout-out. Working under the name Fringenuity, these fans have been campaigning to get their show-inspired hashtags to trend domestically and internationally every Friday night on Twitter since the Bishop boys and company kicked off the second half of their season back in January.

So as a nod of appreciation for all their viral efforts, Fringe's producers and Fox will be placing this week's Fringenuity-selected hashtag (#WhereYouBelong) at the bottom of the screen during the episode in place of the usual #Fringe. The idea is for fans to use only this week's hashtag in all of their show-related tweets starting an hour before the East Coast airing (no earlier).

Read Damian's entire article here.

(fo note:Thank you Jeff Pinkner & Joel Wyman for this gift! This has you two written all over it.
Also, this is the perfect article to follow the Fringenuity Twitter/GetGlue post!
Also, Jeff & Joel followers, does this photo look familiar? Think about what's behind J&J during most of their video interviews.)

Introducing "Fringenuity"-How We Can Help Get A Season 5

      Email Post       2/24/2012 01:36:00 PM

You may have noticed a lot of posts here at Fringe Television since Fringe started airing again in January, regarding Fringe Twitter and GetGlue weekly campaigns.

How did these get started, and what purpose do they serve?

I had the pleasure of asking some of the folks from "Fringenuity" those questions:

Q: What is "Fringenuity," and how did you get started?

Annie:

Fringenuity is the term we came up with to describe this sort of Fringe fan “hive mind” (*giggle*) that exists on Twitter. Fringe is such an exceptional show – its fans are exceptional people. They're smart, motivated, and extremely passionate, and they've spent the last couple of years evolving into this community that feels like a giant international family. Part of the bond is that many of us have worked to promote Fringe for a long time, but it was more loosely organized.

#BeABetterMan hit Worldwide trends within 12 minutes and stayed there through the start of the show, trending for a total of an hour if not more. Following closely on the heels of Worldwide trending, #BeABetterMan showed up on the US trending topics and stayed there for well over 40 minutes as it was picked up by and propagated by non-Fringies. And, the hash tag stayed fixed in trending topics for most of the next DAY in Vancouver!
Tomorrow night we want to continue our social media domination, and the Fringedom wants to try to get the hash tag #LoveIsTheAnswer to trend on Twitter starting at 8PM Eastern.
