Fringe Discuss: Who Would You Like To See Return On Fringe?

      Email Post       9/28/2011 01:55:00 PM

Welcome back to our weekly feature here at Fringe Television called "Fringe Discuss",where we throw out a Fringe-related topic and eagerly aniticipate your feedback.

This week's topic is inspired from Michael Aussiello's 9/27 post at tvline.com (NOTE: You do NOT have to go look at that spoilery post to participate in this discussion.)

In this new reality, where Peter doesn’t (quite) exist, events have played out differently in both universes, and some characters who had died in the Blue/Red universes may still be alive in this new Orange universe.

Discussion Question: Any thoughts on which character may not be dead in the re-set timeline?

Please give us your opinions in the comments below. As always we ask that you respect everyone's opinion, and keep your posts clean.

NOTE:This is NOT the place to discuss spoilers! Comments containing true spoilers will be deleted. We have a great place to discuss spoilers called "Fringe Spoilers, " which you can get to by clicking on its tab at the top of the page.

Moreau!

Can't get even Brad Dourif

I second that. Loved him savoring the opera music.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict Charlie.

Although I'm really rooting for Joanne Ostler.

Thomas Newton!

Charlie would be pretty cool. Though if Walternate still waged war on Over Here, he might still have died similarly.

Olivia already implicated that John Scott was dead (he was my first thought when I saw the translucent skin).

Moreau makes sense, seeing as how he's a Future character. What's he doing in the Present?

Alt Broyles, for sure

what about peter's mother?

TJ Newton: I was so upset that such a cool villain offed himself ;)

Peter's mother. Either one.

Sheriff Mathis was awesome, and I'd love to see her again, but don't think it's likely.

David Robert Jones! and Nick Lane!

David Robert Jones for sure!

Would also be cool to see an Alt Rachel and Ella...you never know!

I want to see a return of David Robert Jones, Moreau, and John Scott all equally bad. Maybe Moreau, Jones, and Scott in that order because I feel like John Scott got the "most" closure.

Peter's mom.

Hm. Nick Lane...I forgot about him.
An interesting character.

Mother Dunham.

Really miss Charlie. Also that cop that helped Peter in the season 2 premiere

I would really, really, like it to be Charlie. But Peter's mom makes sense - wasn't it implied that she killed herself after lying to Peter his whole life sort of drove her insane?

William Bell! Without Peter, Olivia and Walter wouldn't have had to go to the other universe. So Bell wouldn't have died sending them back.

How about this? Everyone :D
('cept John Scott. He can stay dead, sorry.)

Alt-Broyles :)

Xindilini- Mother Dunham
YES! In scenes with both "daughters".

Typewriter Guy. Now in a dance musical on Broadway!? ;)

Charlie (cause he is great, but why isn't he already on the scene, he and Olivia went way back before Fringe).

Elizabeth (makes total sense she'd still be around, but we haven't heard any evidence she'd visited Walter, so unless the reason he was institutionalised was different this time around, I can't see her giving up totally on Walter).

Nick Lane (definitely could be interesting and I'm still waiting to find out the connection to Red Lincoln hinted at previously).

William Bell (a little hard to get around the whole not appearing on camera again!).

I'm looking forward to Thomas Jerome Newton. What a cool, bad-ass, "shifty" villain!!! Bet he's leading the new translucent human shape-shifters. And also Charlie (unlikely though, else we would have seen him with Olivia in the premiere). Oh and who else would I like to see return to Fringe... obviously PETER BISHOP!!! He tops the list.

Ella & Rachel. They were introduced in early S01 to show a softer facet of the Olivia character, who was as uptight as the Olivia in this timeline. Between the first second we saw Olivia (that goofy sexually blissed out grin at the squeaky bed motel in "Pilot") and finally S0315 "Os", when Peter & Olivia were officially a couple, the only time Olivia really smiled was when she was with Ella.

Add my name to the Newton list as well. Always wondered what that smile was about when he terminated himself in "Do Shapeshifters...". Was it that he felt superior to the humans or that he knew he would be back? I would love to see the issues raised in that ep explored more deeply. Perhaps the new "2.0" shapeshifters go that way.

I think Alt-Broyles.

But I'm hoping for Nick Lane, because Alt-Broyles would kind of take away from the drama of Entrada if he was back.

I like the idea of "one episode-one case" it is like the first season, with the underlying tone of "where is Peter." I also like the idea of people being brought "over there".
