While Walter deals with some very upsetting news, he tells Olivia’s niece, Ella, a fairy tale that includes musical performances by Olivia and Agent Broyles.

Worst episode ever, I want sci-fi action and craziness not singing. Who ever did this episode should be fired.

I agree what a load of horse crap or should that be cow?

I have to agree. They boasted an interesting musical with songs from several key characters. What we got were a couple of lines of Song, and Walter telling an uninteresting story to an annoying little kid.

Also Ana Torv is simply not a natural singer. Please PLEASE never let her try anything like that again FOX.

c'mon - it wasn't that bad. the x-files had "the great mutato", so why can't fringe have theirs? plus, any current tv show that uses traffic's "low spark of the high-heeled boys" in an episode is full of win.

what was the observer talking about when he said walter forgot what he was told and he was worried? i kinda thought the episode was good it kind of overlaped with what is currently going on.

how dissapointing :(
and what's up with astrid in the story working on a windows 7 laptop??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Many episodes this season have reinforced why I love Fringe and Brown Betty was no exception. It had terrific writing, direction and acting. Fringe is truly one of the most entertaining shows on television!

This is the worst of all

this was the worsed...realy the worsed episod EVER! just a fuckn waste of time.

Best episode to date. You have to view it as Walter was stoned and it affected the storyline as such.

Great mix of old and current tech in the story. Also great music and throwback to '40s/'50s in both dress and tech. Perfect mix of Walter's state of mind as he was stoned telling the story.

"Brown Betty" shows two things: Fringe is definitely in a class by itself and "A little nonsense now and then is reasured by the wisest men". Was this the first episode that the cow was called by name? Still waiting patiently for Astrid's back story.

God almighty! Finally someone gets it. It's the way Walter imagines it while under the influence, that's why time lines are mixed and it's all a bit nonsensical. Have you negative posters never drunk or on drugs?

What "cell" phone was being used in this episode? Slow motion looks tend to make me believe Iphone, with a case. In one scene you can see where the home button is indented through the "sticker" that has been placed over it, that has numbers on it. At least, that is what I can tell.

What was the song Agent Broyles played on the piano?

Steve Corso said...

Broyles was playing "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" by Traffic. Quite the voice on him, BTW.

This was a nonsense episode (X-Files had 'em to, folks) that still drove the storyline. It was walter's hallucination, as a fairy tale. Not great, but not terrible either.

Personally I loved the singing corpses, haven't laughed that hard in a long time. and it was so nice to see Olivia in something other than a black trouser suit and sensible shoes. Agent Dunham has the most boring wardrobe in the whole wide world.

Unfortunately, this was the worse episode produced. I hope when they compile the season 2 DVD collection, they leave this episode out. It had none of the elements that make Fringe a great show.

Why is it that people who like this episode, feel the need to attack those that didn't?

Answer: This episode cannot be rationally defended, so anyone that sees it for the cowpat that it was must be stupid.

the reasoning of a fool.

This was a terrific episode. It looked as if it was going to be a tired old "ST:TNG holodeck noir" episode, but it transcended that. The music was all over the place, from real classic rock to show tunes, and the fairy tale perfectly captured the story arc to this point.

The writers took what would have been a filler episode on any other show and both added depth to the character of Walter and advanced the story.

What happened? Why are there no new screencaps?

I did not like this episode at all. It was forced on us at a time that we needed answers to move forward. I liked the special effects and the imagination but it was like the X-Files episode with Lord Timboat, I hated it too. Please keep the great writing we are growing to love and stay near the core of what made Fringe the best show in TV. Thanks, Lorne

This episode is so full of Fringe insights. I love all the symbolism that is in it. It best sums up what the series is all about. Thank you.

I thought this episode was brilliant! I loved the "story" Walter was telling. The end of his story was disappointing and sad but Ella changed it to a creative and satisfying ending that was perfectly fitting.

My DVR freaked out tonight and didn't record pt 1 of the season finale. ARGH!!! How long before I can watch it on this website?

PS - I didn't realize how handsome Peter is until this episode!

It was insightful, all about the details!
Steve, I too was impressed by Lance's vocals (nice) and have to admit I have a girl crush on Olivia's 40's persona :)

I've watched this episode twice and still think it’s absolutely brilliant. There are so many endearing parts along with the symbolism that make it one of best of the series. And lets not forget that Walter is at his best comically with hallucinogens, I love it when he starts signing to Tears for Fears. Genius.

I enjoyed the playful atmosphere on this episode a lot! Like someone else mentioned the symbolism and the tie ins to the regular story line were perfectly Fringy!

Does anyone else miss Walter wanting a particular food to go with an episode?!?!?

*I LOVE FRINGE*
