Fringe's Official Site on Fox Just Got a Bit More Dynamic and Mysterious

If you've visited Fox's official site for Fringe before, you're familiar with how it cycles through the 6 fingered hand, leaf and apple images. That aspect of the site hasn't changed, but now, if you hover your mouse over the images, the cycling pauses and the image it is paused on undergoes a transformation as diagrams and scientific notations appear in the background and color is added to the curiosity or oddity (i.e. the 6th finger of the hand, the triangle in the leaf or the fetuses in the apple core). What's more, the images now contain links:

Clicking on the leaf activates a video player which plays the Fringe Trailer.

Clicking on the apple opens a new window to the Future on Fox Blog, Category Fringe.

Clicking on the hand opens a window to YouTube and a video of a 12 fingered man.

Considering the first two links--Trailer and Fox blog--are above board promotions (as opposed to viral), I doubt there's more to the YouTube video or its owner, Stuart Sims, than meets the eye. Nevertheless, I've emailed Mr. Sims asking him about his involvement, if any, with Fox and Fringe. While it's not the sort of thing he would be at liberty to confirm, he could certainly deny it. I'll update this post if I get a response.

UPDATE: Stuart (aka Master Quark, the video's owner) claimed no knowledge of, nor connection to Fringe:

Hi
After spending all morning trying to register and sifting through this Fringe thing.....I'm finally able to log on!

Yes, I see my 12 fingered man...and am happy.
How it got there-I do not have a clue. Ask the guys who built the site!
But leave it...OK...will boost my 1,000 to 2,000 hits a day on YouTube..LOL

  1. The picture with the hand has the fibonacci series behind it. The Apple has the golden spiral.

  6. Who's asking me about covert ties with Fringe (which I had never head about before I got up this morning).

OK....someone asked about holograms and this holomove movement. That’s old hat (old stuff like a process in which an image is obtained by application of a high-frequency electric field to an object so that it radiates a characteristic pattern of luminescence that is recorded on photographic film Kirlian photograph. I was supposed to show a life force in all living beings and I've seem some very conviincing evidence).

Let me tell you what is new and happening. In quantum physics-black holes present physicists with a dilemma. As you will now learn quantum physics, does not believe that information can be removed from the Universe. Oh, It can be shredded and discombobulated to the point of virtual nonsense but given the correct technology (perhaps future technology) all that information that was scrambled when a star went super nova (i.e.) can be retrieved.

But a black hole appears to be the ultimate information gobbling machine. Any information falling into a black hole is lost to the universe forever. Hawkings kind of caused this paradox (since I have to work on my web site I can't really explain why) and his explanation to try to correct this enigma was so lame that if it was not for the fact that he presents a very sympathetic person, he would have been laughed off the podium.

Current theory has generated a particle that sits just outside the event horizon (or gets regurgitated from the black hole if it explodes-another one of Hawkings whoppers) and records everything that gets gobbled up in the Black Hole. This hypothetical particle acts very much like a hologram...No matter how many times one splits this particle a complete record remains just a little fuzzier. Much like if one breaks a photographic hologram into a millions of pieces; one discovers that each piece contains the whole picture albeit with less detail. So no information is lost just read the holographic particle and viola there it is a record of all the kitchen sinks and everything else sucked up by this particular black hole. Neat huh!

In response to your query, all the photos the leaf (in the center is a golden triangle), the apple (displaysa golden spiral), and the hand are all related to the Fibonacci number series but in a rather camouflaged manner. Generally when one thinks of Fibonacci numbers one thinks of how rabbits breed assuming none of them die then you have the series; but, in math there are zillions of relationships that spring from this fundamental mathematical truth such as branching of trees, the golden spiral and the golden rectangle. The 3rd image of the hand is a bit of a mystery but if one notes a sequence of Fibonacci numbers is found on the right of the hand near the knuckles 1,1,2,3,5,8,13 (and pleas note that is a 6 fingered hand like mine in the bottom frame.....it's possible the relationship of the knuckles correlates to the golden triangle or golden ratio 1:1.618 just a guess .
Sorry trying to finish my web site (already have 2,000 hours invested). Write me at gangamanta (at)

  17. Many proportions of the human body are close to the golden ratio. Leonardo da Vinci was interested in the proportions in the human body as shown in his drawing below. The table shows measurements (in centimetres) of my body and the ratio they are in. All of the ratios are reasonably close to the golden ratio, 1 : 1.168 generated by The Fibonacci Numbers.

    The HAND IS EXPLAIND THUS

    Fingertip to 1st Knuckle - 4.2
    Length of Finger - 7.1
    RATIO 1 : 1.690

    1st Knuckle to 2nd Knuckle - 2.5
    Fingertip to 1st Knuckle - 4.2
    1 : 1.680

And there may be more similar 1:1.1680 ratios in just a hand!

  18. That was one huge hand; but is suspect the ratio holds true or very close for most hands!

  20. Hi!

I just found the video myself, did a little more digging, and wrote a page about it, here, which references yours: http://www.mahalo.com/12_Fingered_Man_Fringe

    The mystery is getting fascinating!

  21. Listen, there is a very simple explanation to all this 6 Fingered Man speculation, unfortunately it requires one to jump into a black hole and travel through a wormhole to an alternate region of the universe, past our observable universe. And then, one must poke his head out of the edge of that part of the universe. Currently the both The New England Journal of Medicine and the CDC have "Very Strongly Worded" advisories against such travel. Apparently, it turns your DNA into a substance resembling purple pond scum and at best you will be reassembled into a terribly mutated frog incapable of blabbering one utterance understandable by anyone one on earth, including Australian Aborigines and the French.

  22. Ha! Ha! Ha!~!!
Jumping into a wormhole in a blackhole; altering your DNA and turning into a pinkish substance, incapable of blabbering even to Australian Aborogines AND of all the blimy people on earth- the French (Sarkozzy a la Bruni crucified in the process finally!)-
wow man- this is too much. It puts me into a real world of 1:1.690 or thereabouts. Hoorah.

  23. People
The show is suppose to be easy to follow.

We were told there would be no math...haha

So why get caught up in puzzles that are simply made up to look cool and tell you practically nothing?

  24. Anon vs. Anon:

The post this is in response to and all the comments until Anon's last predate the TCA comment that the show won't be impenetrable. Also, making each show a comprehensible story unto itself and weaving a complex mythological arc through all the shows is not an either or proposition. In short, your false dichotomy is a day late.

  25. the equation under the leaf is " F(n+2) - F(n+1) - F(n) = F " It's close to the Fibonacci recursion which is F(n+2) - F(n+1) - F(n) = 0. The only thing different is the 0 : /
