Fringe Observiews 5.06 Through The Looking Glass And What Walter Found There

      Email Post       11/15/2012 12:20:00 AM

Welcome to the Observiews for Season 5 of Fringe. I call them Observiews because they are more visual observations than deep thinking reviews, if that makes sense.
Screen caps from this episode are taken from fringefiles.com. Dialog is from fringepedia.net.

All observations are mine and therefore could be totally off the wall and/or wrong. I have not read or looked at any recaps or reviews. I could also have missed a few things, oh well…

3.11 Reciprocity
WALTER: "... Every relationship is reciprocal, Peter. When you touch something, it touches you. You're changing, son. When you touched the machine, it changed you. It weaponized you."

That was true for Peter's connection with the machine and it is true now. Except this time no one on the team knows yet what Peter did and what the consequences will be.

In episode 513 of The Fringe Podcast we share some of the listener feedback we received for the Fringe season 5 episode titles, "Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There." We received several comments about the identity of Donald and the Observer Boy. We also received various thoughts on Peter's condition and the Observer-like traits the he demonstrated, including possible clues to his ability to read minds. Also, many listeners are concerned that there does not seem to be a happy ending in sight and give their opinions on how the show might end. Our Twinge question gets the listener's perspective on the Observer boy and how he fits into the plan.

Observer Talk - Through The Looking Glass And What Walter Found There

During the latest fantastic episode of Fringe there was nothing for us to translate, although we did see Windmark writing in another notebook.

Do the observers distrust technology when writing, or do their implants automatically record what they write and store it online in the big oberver collective database ?

There is something from the episode that I think needs a little discussion.

Review: Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There

“You will notice that things work differently here.”

Have you read House of Leaves? If you have, this episode likely made your head spin. (If you haven’t, I’ll bet you enjoyed it anyway.) House of Leaves is a complicated book about a photographer who moves into a house that gives him access to…a place…sorta…and then there’s different sized fonts and various unreliable narrators whose timelines don’t match up. There are diary entries, transcribed videos, and more. It is thoughtfully postmodern, but also surreal enough to evoke a thrill. And so was “Through the Looking Glass…”

In this episode of The Fringe Podcast we discuss our thoughts on the Fringe season 5 episode titled, "Through the Looking Glass and What Walter Found There." We talk about the new Observer-like abilities that Peter demonstrated in this episode and what that might tell us about his future. We also discuss the reappearance of "creepy bald kid" that we last saw in the season 1 episode, "Inner Child." We throw around a few thoughts on Donald, new behavior that we noticed from Windmark, and the conversation between Walter and Peter at the end of the episode. We also talk about the unique style of this episode and the wonderful job done by director, Jon Cassar.

Fringe Interview: Joshua Jackson is "A Better Man"

      Email Post       11/08/2012 10:43:00 AM

This Joshua Jackson interview lays out Peter's arc going forward pretty clearly so if you don't want to spoiled I would recommend waiting until after Friday's episode airs.

Fringe editor Ari Margolis recommends that you don't watch:
Going to step on my #Fringe soapbox one more time... As the final few episodes are filmed, stay away from any [spoilers]!!! I know it's tempting but I think you'll enjoy the experience more if you go into it un-spoiled! Just my two cents. And as always... #WatchItLive #Fringe
But if you are weak like me, the truth is but a click away.
