Thank You Fringe Fans for Being As Phenomenal As the Show

Fandoms are wonderful. They encourage you to talk about your favorite show and assure you that your obsession does not require medical attention. I have encountered many TV fandoms over the years, but one in particular has really astounded me and that is the Fringe community. I was aware the sci-fi drama, which premiered in 2008, had a devoted fanbase but I never knew how active it truly was until I saw it first hand in January of this year when my friend, Louise, began writing her hilarious and popular photo recaps. The fans flooded her comments section with positive feedback and eagerly shared the link to her posts with others, such as the show's star, Joshua Jackson, who then shared the link on his Twitter feed. It was impressive to see that community rally so much support and presence online, and fortunately; the Fox network recognized their efforts and granted the show thirteen episodes to end the series this Fall, despite low ratings.

by AceShowBiz.com
The crime drama series leads the pack with three nods, the sci-fi drama trails behind with two gongs, while 'The Walking Dead' and 'Teen Wolf' are among other shows which take home one prize each.

The 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards is yet to be held, but "Breaking Bad" has added trophies to its shelves. The AMC drama series edged out other scripted shows on cable channels to nab the Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series title at the 38th Annual Saturn Awards. It took home two other kudos through Bryan Cranston's win for Best TV Actor and Aaron Paul's victory for Best Supporting Actor on Television.

Another coveted prize, the Best Network Television Series award, went to "Fringe" which was snubbed in the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Award nomination list. The show's lead actress Anna Torv was additionally hailed as Best Actress on Television.

The rest of the awards in TV field were snatched by cable series, such as AMC's "The Walking Dead" which nabbed the Best Television Presentation, and MTV's "Teen Wolf" which was named the Best Youth-Oriented Television Series. Other AMC show "The Killing" collected one accolade through Michelle Forbes' win for Best Supporting Actress, while TNT's "Leverage" led Tom Skerritt to grab a trophy through his guest stint.

A gala for this year's Saturn Awards was held Thursday, July 26 night in Burbank, California. It presented prizes for TV shows, movies and DVDs for science fiction, fantasy and horror genres. It additionally handed out some Special Achievement Awards, with the long-running animated series "The Simpsons" being honored with The Milestone Award.
