'Fringe' to return for shorter fifth and final season?

Fringe could be renewed for a fifth and final season, reports suggest.

It is possible that the sci-fi drama will return to Fox for a shorter run, composed of just 15 episodes, according to TVLine.

The current fourth season of Fringe has seen the show struggle in the ratings, with midseason premiere 'Back to Where You've Never Been' pulling in just 2.87m viewers.

Last week's (February 17) installment 'A Better Human Being' rose slightly to 3m.

Series star Joshua Jackson (Peter Bishop) recently hinted that the series could continue "off network" if Fox declines to recommission it.

"I think there's a possibility that if people just watched the show on the day and date, and if the numbers came back, [renewal] is a possibility [on Fox]," he said. "[But] the TV landscape is a different place than it used to be, so [cancellation on Fox] might not be death."

Fringe continues on Fridays at 9/8c on Fox. Sky1 airs the show on Wednesdays at 10pm in the UK.

Fringe Observiews 4.13 A Better Human Being

      Email Post       2/21/2012 12:47:00 PM

Welcome to the Observiews for Season 4 of Fringe. I call them Observiews because they are more visual observations than deep thinking reviews, if that makes sense.

Screen caps from this episode are taken from fringefiles.com. Dialog is from fringepedia.net/transcripts.

All observations are mine and therefore could be totally off the wall and/or wrong. I have not read or looked at any recaps or reviews. I could also have missed a few things, oh well…

3.09 Marionette
WALTER: “Do you think possibly they replaced her with a robot?”

That line had been stuck in my head since 4.09 Enemy Of My Enemy and I’m not sure why. There is no evidence that Olivia has been replaced by a shapeshifter but…

Fringe Poll: Alt-Nina or Shape-Shifter Nina?

      Email Post       2/21/2012 10:43:00 AM

At the end of the Fringe episode "A Better Human Being", Nina is caught in a lie, then it is revealed that there is another Nina tied-up somewhere else with the abducted Olivia.

Since we already know that Alt Brandon in the new Red universe was revealed to be a shape shifter, it's possible that one of these Ninas is also a shape shifter - meaning that Massive Dynamic was compromised at very high levels in both universes.

Normally a shape-shifter kills their victim when they assume their identity, but we see that there is another, bound Nina still alive. This could mean either that these Next Generation shape-shifters don't need to kill their victims, or the scarier possibility that both Ninas are shape shifters!

However, there is another possibility, that they are both "real" Ninas, and the fake Nina (Nin-not?) is the Alt-Nina from the Red Universe.

I came up with seven possible combinations - what do you think is going on?

What do you think is going on with Massive Dynamic Nina and the tied-up Nina?

It's been a while since we've had a blatant Slusho sighting, but not only do we get a Slusho poster on the convenience store, but it looks like Slusho has a new product: Slusho Pops.

In case you are not familiar with the infamous J.J. Abrams drink, seen in Star Trek, Cloverfield, Heroes, and even Alias, check out the Slusho website at Slusho.com.
