There is one image in particular that flashes towards the end. You can see a screenshot of it after the break:

Fringe Observiews 4.12 Welcome to Westfield

Welcome to the Observiews for Season 4 of Fringe. I call them Observiews because they are more visual observations than deep thinking reviews, if that makes sense.

Screen caps are taken from fringefiles.com. Dialog is from fringepedia.net/transcripts.

All observations are mine and therefore could be totally off the wall and/or wrong. I have not read or looked at any recaps or reviews. I could also have missed a few things, oh well…

OLIVIA: “Gruesome.”
RACHEL: “Gruesome? That's a good word.”

… to describe this episode because it was gruesomely awesome.

Dorothy watches Miss Gulch ride her bicycle through the window of her bedroom after the tornado winds have blown it in.

Walter gazes at a bicycle in the window, just before the storm winds blow it in. Note that the bike is facing in the opposite direction of Miss Gulch's and Walter occupies the opposite half of the frame that Dorothy does.

Create your own Fringe Valentine Card, using any screenshot or promotional photo you like from here or FringeFiles.com, add a cute or funny caption, and email it to contest@fringetelevision.com before the next episode airs on Friday.

If you don't have Photoshop or something similar, you can use an online tool, like Photoshop Express, or even the LolCat Generator.

We'll select our top 5 favorites, then let you vote on a winner. The person with the best entry will receive their choice of an item from the Fringe prize pool.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Fringe Easter Egg: Next Episode Clue 412

      Email Post       2/13/2012 12:12:00 AM

Every episode of Fringe contains a hidden "next episode clue" that foreshadows something in the following episode. In the last Fringe episode "Making Angels", when the Kerry Watson leaves the liquor store (before she is killed by Neil Chung), there is a sign on the window for Quimby Irish Ale...

Fringe Review: Welcome to Westfield

“You folks lost?”
“Not that I’m aware of.”

This is an episode that could have gone either way: horribly disappointing or deeply satisfying. Standalones and trapped-in-a-town narratives can provide a welcome relief from an overarching mythology, or a frustrating sense that the writers are dragging their feet. Somehow, “Welcome to Westfield” didn’t have either of those results at all: the standalone elements were so evocative of so many other episodes, and the final surprise was so darn exciting that the relief I felt wasn’t at the break from the mythos, but at the sense that we are finally, finally getting somewhere.
