Fringe Flashback: Eric Stoltz In Back To The Future

In the Fringe episode "Peter", we see a flashback with two observers coming out of a movie theater showing Back To The Future. However, in the alternate universe, Marty McFly is played by Eric Stotz and not Michael J. Fox.

In one of the most amazing nerdy trivia Easter eggs so far in Fringe, it turns out that the role was originally cast with Stoltz, but after filming began he was replaced by Fox.

Here is a clip explaining the Back To The Future lead change:

Fringe Retro Title Sequence

      Email Post       4/02/2010 01:03:00 AM

Most of the Fringe episode "Peter" is a flashback that takes place in 1985. To match the style of the era, location titles and the Fringe title sequence was given a new look. The Tron-style graphics are complimented by new "fringe science" subjects. While these subjects may have seemed "fringe" at the time of Back To The Future and Weird Science, every one (with the exception of cold fusion) is now considered mainstream science.

One thing that seems to be missing from this old school sequence is the "Observers Are Here" quote.

Screenshots of every frame from the title sequence are available at FringeFiles.com.
