Observers Spotted At NFL Packers/Cowboys Game

      Email Post       11/16/2009 01:59:00 PM

TWO observers were spotted at Sunday's Greenbay vs. Dallas NFL game on FOX, officially marking the start of Observer Week for Fringe.

The local Wisconsin Fox affiliate WLUK even ran a news piece on the sighting:

Fringe Observer Week

      Email Post       11/16/2009 01:33:00 PM

Variety is reporting that Fox has launched a major campaign this week to promote the Observer-centric Fringe episode "August":
"Observer Week," as the campaign is dubbed internally, includes placing multiple actors playing "observers" in the crowd at live Fox telecasts -- Sunday's NFL game, as well as an episode of "So You Think You Can Dance."

Fox did something similar last year on programs such as "American Idol" and NASCAR.

Fox will also send out street teams dressed as the observer (dark suits, bald heads, carrying briefcases) to various spots in Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, Boston and Chicago. The characters will pass out Tabasco sauce (a nod to the fact that "Fringe's" observers like spicy food).

Fast-pausing DVR users may also notice subliminal shots of "Fringe's" observers popping up in primetime via hidden images in the net's night opens, as well as via seven-frame graphics flashed throughout the evening.

"The hope is we get a few more viewers watching the show live," Earley said. "Or at least watching it within three days of air. The show is too good, and we want to continue to support it."

The Easter-egg approach of the campaign also plays well with the fans of mythology-based shows like "Fringe," he said.

If you live in Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York, Boston and Chicago, Be sure to keep your eye out (and your camera ready.) Please send us an email if you live in any of these areas and would like to see the Observer in person, or to report any Observer sightings you may find.

The Observer spotted at Yankees game

      Email Post       4/19/2009 10:30:00 PM

The Observer was spotted yesterday at the Yankees / Indians baseball game, sitting in the audience. The Observer has been making a lot of public appearances lately, showing up at NFL games, NASCAR, and even American Idol. However, in this case, he may have been there to witness a disaster, as New York was routed by Cleveland 22-4.

* Thanks to Robert Fallon for the screenshot, and Carolie & joeyboy553 for the video!

The Observer on American Idol

      Email Post       4/07/2009 10:12:00 PM

The Observer made an appearance on American Idol tonight. No, not singing - he was in the audience.

BTW, something you may not know about Micheal Cerveris, he is an accomplished singer and Tony award winning Broadway actor. Here he is in Sweeney Todd.

The Observer spotted at NASCAR race

The Observer was spotted at last Sunday's NASCAR race - the Samsung 500. He must be a big sports fan, because he was also seen at an NFL game. Where will he appear next - MLB?

* Thanks to Julia R. for sending this in!

American Idol Tonight

      Email Post       1/13/2009 07:51:00 PM

Tonight is the premiere of the eighth season (!) of American Idol, which means no new Fringe. However the wait is almost over, because Fringe will be back next week with an all new episode - Bound.

But don't turn off the TV quite yet... because it's possible we could see an appearance from our good friend The Observer. No, not hiding on the sidelines like on Sunday's NFL game, but actually singing. Don't believe it? Check out this video featuring the bald one himself, Michael Cerveris, singing in Sweeny Todd (@ 2:30):

Fringe's Observer on Fox's NFL Sunday Game

      Email Post       1/11/2009 05:36:00 PM

The Observer made a surprise appearance on FOX's NFL Sunday football game between the Giants and the Eagles, standing on the sidelines observing the game. Reportedly, this is not the first time the Fringe character has made an appearance at an NFL game, but this is the first time someone has captured the footage, and posted it to YouTube. The quality of the video is not the greatest, but you'll get the picture. If anyone has a better recording, or finds a better video, let me know.

The Observer: Catch Him If You Can

      Email Post       12/04/2008 10:07:00 AM

Fox has released a series of videos, confirming the hidden location of The Observer in each Fringe episode, with the exception of The Observer-centric episode The Arrival, and his recent appearance in Safe. I have compiled all the videos together into this one clip, but you can also watch them individually in the FOX YouTube channel.

We have been tracking the Observer since the beginning in our Screencaps section, along with other Easter Eggs, including hidden Massive Dynamic logos, and the Next Episode Clues (clues hidden in each episode which foreshadow what will happen in the next episode.)

Fringe Tidbits

      Email Post       9/17/2008 02:57:00 PM

The magic of House rubbed off on the second airing of Fox’s Fringe as it soared to an average audience of 13.363 million viewers (almost 50% above its premiere of ~9 million), an 18-49 demo rating of 5.2 and an 18-34 demo rating of 4.5. -- TVbytheNumbers
Question: Fringe was so awesome! Got any scoop? -- Olivia
Ausiello: You betcha. The show is already beefing up its cast, adding to the roster an as-yet-unchosen actor to play the recurring role of Ian Spencer, a twenty-to-thirtysomething hipster whose forensics expertise comes in handy on tough cases. Not sure if his sense of humor helps, too, but hey, can't hurt, right? -- EW
Speaking of the cast, keep an eye out for creepy bald guy.
