Fringe Easter Eggs: More Hidden Glyphs in White Tulip

Fringe Photos:
There are two hidden butterflies the the Fringe episode White Tulip, which are very similar to the butterfly glyph shown before commercials.

Fringe Photos:

The first one can be found in Alistair Peck's kitchen while Peter looks through the photo album.
* Thanks to Spacegundam from the FringeTelevision twitter feed for finding this one!

Fringe Photos:

A second butterfly can be found in Alistair Peck's lab, right as the FBI bust in to save Walter.

BTW, who is that dude in the photo?

This makes three hidden symbols in this episode so far, including the hidden seahorse. I feel like we've just hit the tip of the iceburg...

A hidden seahorse can be found in Alistair Peck's bathroom cabinet. This is very similar to the seahorse glyph shown before commercials.

It turns out that hidden glyphs were also spotted on the door of the liquor store in Of Human Action, and in the graffiti of Momentum Deferred. Could this be a recurring Easter egg theme that has been in every episode? If anyone wants to look, screenshots from every Fringe episode are available on FringeFiles.com.

New Fringe Commercial With Trent Reznor

      Email Post       10/22/2009 11:01:00 AM

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look at the new Fringe commercial featuring music from Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. The commercial will be shown tonight during American League Champion Series game. EW reports that Reznor was excited to collaborate with J.J. Abrams:
So, how did the freaky drama series secure the services of Reznor? After Fox’s marketing department showed the Fringe producers a version of the promo that used “Zero-Sum,” series exec producer Jeff Pinkner simply asked a nearby Reznor acquaintance—that’d be co-creator J.J. Abrams—if the NIN musician might be interested in a collaboration. One email later, Reznor was on the case. “We offered him compensation, and he said, ‘No, no, I just want to have fun and be part of something cool,’” says Pinkner, adding: “How often do you get the chance to work with somebody like that?”
Reznor revamped his Nine Inch Nails song “Zero-Sum” in his mobile studio while on tour, adding lines of dialogue from Fringe’s William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) over the music. He even came up with the idea of “embedding” one of the show’s glyphs in the music (see below).

Pinkner also suggested that Reznor may end up on the show at some point:

“If he wants to come act on the show, that’s not tit for tat—that’s an open invitation, and we made that known to him,” says Pinkner. Any ideas on what he may play? “Well, his head would probably end up exploding,” deadpans Pinkner. “There’d be some uncomfortable biology in there one way or another.”

Here is an exclusive look at the hidden Fringe butterfly glyph, which can be seen by analyzing the audio using a spectrogram:

Fringe's Glyph / Symbols Code Cracked!

      Email Post       4/07/2009 11:33:00 AM

Fringe King Julian SanchezArs Technica editor Julian Sanchez (my new hero!) has finally cracked the code of the mysterious Fringe glyphs that appear during the commercial breaks, piggybacking on the work done in a recent Ars Technica article. Each glyph and position of the yellow dot indicate a different letter, so Julian used a simple one-to-one, monoalphabetic substitution cypher, like the Caeser Shift Astrid used in In Which We Meet Mr. Jones to link Mitchell Loeb's parasite to ZFT.

UPDATE: Fringepedia has a more complete list of Glyph Codes here.

Click here to read the solution

Each set of glyphs translate into a word, which relates to the theme of the episode:

101: OBSERVER
102: CHILD
103: AEGER [? -- AETHER would make more sense for the episode]
104: ROGUE
105: SURGG [should be SURGE?]
106: CELLS
107: CODES
108: TAKEN
109: VOICE
110: TRADE
111: SAVED
112: BISHOP
113: AVIAN
114: OLIVIA

Imagine The Impossibilities: Case 0091

Fringe's Imagine The Impossibilities Horn GlyphThe official FRINGE website - Fox.com/fringe - added a new Horn glyph.
Clicking the glyph takes you to the ImagineTheImpossibilities.com website, where the content of the site has been replaced.

The first screen, is a list of coordinates (all in Iowa), and the text CASE_0091: EVIDENCE_0001 0711P 170708 NEXT

Clicking next takes you to "CASE_0091: EVIDENCE_0002 1200P 250708" which plays a video describing an incident of "The Pattern" where 11 groups of sheep in Iowa are lining up in giant circles. I checked the video frame-by-frame, and I don't see any hidden, apart from the usual mathematical formulas.

Official Fringe ARG & Sweepstakes @ ExploreTheImpossibilities.com

      Email Post       7/17/2008 11:05:00 PM

There is a new Fringe website at ExploreTheImpossibilities.com (also SearchForThePattern.com).

The main site loops a few of the trailers, has a banner promotion for Fringe at Comic-Con 7.26.08 across the top, and at the bottom of the page the leaf, frog and apple glyphs serve as a menu of sorts.

The leaf leads to a "Clue" registration page where you provide your name, email, birth date and agree to the terms in order to:

Register to receive the first clue via email.

The clue will be sent on Saturday, July 26 at 6pm PST.
The apple leads to a "Sweepstakes" registration page where, after repeating the registration process above and agreeing to the rules, you:

Enter the sweepstakes for a chance to attend the FRINGE premiere party in New York.
The frog glyph opens the official site for Fringe on Fox.com in a new window.

So what do you think the "first clue" is all about? Is it officially an ARG for Fringe?

Digg!

A seahorse had been added as the seventh Fringe "glyph" on the ImagineTheImpossibilities.com (aka Find The Pattern) website. Hovering your mouse over the seahorse outlines a Fibonacci Spiral pattern and reveals the chemical compounds for the amino acids Histidine and Hydroxyproline.

Clicking on the seahorse displays a paragraph of braille. A few of the words are already translated for you, but you can read the full translation below.

Fringe's Imagine The Impossibilities Site Updated

A butterfly (or moth) has been added as a sixth element on the ImageTheImpossibilities.com (aka Find The Pattern) website for Fringe. The highlighting triggered by hovering your mouse over the butterfly appears to outline the bone structure of five-fingered hands, two per wing. Clicking on the butterfly cycles through the Fringe radio ads which ask listeners to find the pattern.

The butterfly has also been added to FOX's official site for Fringe, http://www.fox.com/fringe/.

Fringe Teaser Animations

The conceptual design studio Buster, was retained by FOX to develop, animate and produce an on-air teaser campaign for FOX's upcoming Fall 2008 TV series "Fringe." Buster worked from the initial graphic symbols found in nature that had been developed by the internal design team at FOX. These symbols are key points for viewers to key into, and to tap into the show's science and nature themed premise. Buster developed a number of 10-second on-air tease animations which have been seen on FOX Television since mid June.

Fringe Ads: Imagine The Impossibilities

      Email Post       6/30/2008 12:30:00 AM

Mysterious flash ads for Fringe have begun appearing online. According to The Hollywood Reporter:
[The ads are] placed on Web sites outside of the usual entertainment hubs to catch viewers attention in unique locations. Users on such sites as Automobile.com and recipe site FamilyOven.com will see mysterious ads encouraging them to "Imagine the Impossibilities."

"They will be very quick sort of messages, leading people to nondescript Web sites that will ultimately lead them back to 'Fringe,' " [Laurel] Bernard (senior vp marketing at Fox) said.
The ads don't specifically mention Fringe, but they do take you the ImagineTheImpossiblities.com website.

One very interesting tidbit about the ads...

The film strips that drop down have printing on the bottom; some sort of date, and the words "Drs Bell & Bishop" - most likely referring to Dr. Walter Bishop, the institutionalized father of Peter Bishop, and Dr. William Bell, the founder of Massive Dynamics.

A new official website for Fringe is online. I found it as a sponsored link during Google a search for Fringe:

As for the site's contents, it would appear to be the same as http://www.fox.com/fringe/, so nothing new there, yet. One positive to note, from my end at least, is the flash seems to load faster on the new site. We'll keep watch.

Fringe's Official Site on Fox Just Got a Bit More Dynamic and Mysterious

      Email Post       6/02/2008 11:37:00 AM

If you've visited Fox's official site for Fringe before, you're familiar with how it cycles through the 6 fingered hand, leaf and apple images. That aspect of the site hasn't changed, but now, if you hover your mouse over the images, the cycling pauses and the image it is paused on undergoes a transformation as diagrams and scientific notations appear in the background and color is added to the curiosity or oddity (i.e. the 6th finger of the hand, the triangle in the leaf or the fetuses in the apple core). What's more, the images now contain links:

Clicking on the leaf activates a video player which plays the Fringe Trailer.

Clicking on the apple opens a new window to the Future on Fox Blog, Category Fringe.

Clicking on the hand opens a window to YouTube and a video of a 12 fingered man.

Considering the first two links--Trailer and Fox blog--are above board promotions (as opposed to viral), I doubt there's more to the YouTube video or its owner, Stuart Sims, than meets the eye. Nevertheless, I've emailed Mr. Sims asking him about his involvement, if any, with Fox and Fringe. While it's not the sort of thing he would be at liberty to confirm, he could certainly deny it. I'll update this post if I get a response.

UPDATE: Stuart (aka Master Quark, the video's owner) claimed no knowledge of, nor connection to Fringe:

Hi
After spending all morning trying to register and sifting through this Fringe thing.....I'm finally able to log on!

Yes, I see my 12 fingered man...and am happy.
How it got there-I do not have a clue. Ask the guys who built the site!
But leave it...OK...will boost my 1,000 to 2,000 hits a day on YouTube..LOL
