Tonight On Fringe: Unearthed

      Email Post       1/11/2010 08:49:00 PM

Tonight is a special bonus episode of Fringe, an original "Unearthed" episode from Season One.

The story goes that the studio paid for 21 episodes last season, but only 20 were shown due to various scheduling decisions, so they shot an extra one and have been hanging onto it ever since. It stands to reason that this will be a stand alone episode,  but you never know.

Anyway, we'll have a LIVE Fringe chat from 9:00 PM to 12:00 PM ET, if you want to talk with other Fringe fans during or after the show.

To join the chat, visit the Fringe chat room, enter your name or a nickname, and join the fun! (please don't use the default mib_xxxxx nickname!)

Fringe Episode 121: Unearthed

      Email Post       1/11/2010 08:19:00 PM

After a teenage girl is pronounced brain dead, her mother takes her off life support, but when doctors operate quickly to remove her organs, the deceased girl shockingly awakens screaming an alphanumeric code. Equally as perplexing as her resurrection is that she is now somehow able to speak Russian and possesses classified information only a high-ranking soldier would know. While the girl’s mind-bending condition intensifies, Walter dusts off some old lab videos and hypothesizes the unthinkable, sending Olivia and Peter to investigate the bewildering case.

When is the next new Fringe?

      Email Post       12/13/2009 01:01:00 PM

Fringe will be in reruns for the next three weeks, starting with "A New Day In The Old Town", "Night of Desirable Objects", then "Dream Logic" on New Year's eve. We will be Fringe-less the following week due to the BCS National Championship on January 7th (that's the college football season finale for you non-sporty types).

Fringe will return with four all new episodes starting on January 14, 2010, with the "Winter Finale" on February 4th.

Fringe will take a break for SEVEN weeks, while FOX debuts a new show titled "Past Life".

Fringe will ultimately return on April 1st (no joke) and run uninterrupted with all new episodes until the season finale sometime in May.

Fringe Episode 210: Grey Matters

      Email Post       12/10/2009 07:04:00 PM

A Fringe investigation is triggered when a patient at a mental institution undergoes an impromptu brain surgery that unexpectedly leaves his brain exposed. Despite the unthinkable circumstances, the patient’s condition and sanity miraculously improves before the Fringe team arrives. While Agent Dunham and Peter scan surveillance tapes (and Walter enjoys his pudding), Olivia recognizes a familiar face as Thomas Jerome Newton, the leader of the "shape-shifters." As similar cases stack up, the Fringe team heads back to the lab to determine exactly how patients are being cured. Walter’s brains are put to the test and William Bell resurfaces.

FringeBusters 208: August

      Email Post       11/24/2009 12:16:00 AM

Fringe Photos: For each episode of Fringe, Popular Mechanics asks experts to analyzes the science of Fringe, and separate the science fact from the science fiction.

For "August," PM consults etymologist Rex Curry about deciphering ancient codes and symbols to see how (and if) it can be done.
Fringe got its facts right: Language does require repetition, and cracking complex codes requires some sort of key that compares codes to another language. For now, it seems that Astrid and her Fringe compatriots are out of luck when it comes to unlocking the mysteries inside the Observer's notebook.
