Any romantic pairings and/or "foreshadowing" should be viewed with that in mind. If anything, "Brown Betty" gives us more information about Walter than about any of the other regulars.Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10952078709114872197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-788645746622659643.post-81455042164906106672010-05-05T23:28:07.177-04:002010-05-05T23:28:07.177-04:00When I read UST = unresolved sexual tension since ...When I read UST = unresolved sexual tension since the pilot episode, I gave a huge cheer. Really. Because I've seen it from the very first time they meet, and finally I hear someone else has too!

I really enjoyed your review. I agree with everything you say except the Nina comment about Peter: if it's foreshadowing, it means he might be pretending to love someone in the future (on the other side?) something I've even wondered, if he ends up 'working' over there - he'd be a spy like his grandfather was. If it's not foreshadowing, then it is what Nina would say to Olivia, the way an aunt or even mother would say to a daughter: stay away because he will steal your heart. And that's just what he did. Not literally in this show! but in real life, that's what Walter has noticed: how Peter and Olivia fit together.

I also have to add that I loved just about everything about this episode. It really is almost perfect, and the noir, fantasy and real-life elements fit together extremely well. I do like how Anna Torv sings her song, because it is a bittersweet moment - it shouldn't be belted out or jolly, when he's looking like he's died. I thought it fit extremely well with what has just happened to her on the real world in the show realizing late that she has feelings for him.Susanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09095246748581382752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-788645746622659643.post-88654327940020408292010-05-05T23:08:19.706-04:002010-05-05T23:08:19.706-04:00I too couldn't help laugh when Walter was sing...I too couldn't help laugh when Walter was singing "Head Over Heels".
I loved how there is some much symbolism in this episode that hints at what has or might happen in this series.
There has been editing misses in the past, but in this episode, Olivia's song is perfectly edited. I can't say it often enough. I suspect that Anna Torv did it all in one take.
I'm very curious about how the scenes of Olivia in the box were shot.
Great review.Xindilinihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12025249705801409672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-788645746622659643.post-72225758200004259672010-05-05T22:40:33.099-04:002010-05-05T22:40:33.099-04:00FringObsessed can I just tell you that you should ...FringObsessed can I just tell you that you should talk about the episodes more often! It was a way of dealing with all the horrible things he actually did - and Peter's later revelation about the children's dreams and nightmares seemed to show that even in telling a story, Walter had to acknowledge reality. If it was truly narcissism, he would have been accused and then vindicated, not the other way around.Joannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10952078709114872197noreply@blogger.com
